Prince of Persia has always been about getting through each challenge as quickly as possible, thanks to the one-hour time-limit on the game. Thus, it makes for a perfect Live Arcade action game, as it basically comes with built-in leaderboard support.

It is hard to complain about what is easily the best looking Xbox Live Arcade game yet and quite possibly the most well rounded one too. Whether you care about saving princesses or not, Prince of Persia is a game of royal calibre.

I’m happy to report that this is one of the better retro revamp titles to come along. Despite that, many gamers will have to give this game a second thought before spending the 800 points, due to the low replay value and lack of multiplayer.

Now, this iteration of the classic game shows that with some love and polishing, these old favorite games of ours really do stand the test of time, and even outperform some new games.

A good update of a classic game, but you’ll only enjoy it if you enjoy classic gameplay.

For the short time that the game does last it is an example of how Live Arcade titles should be done and how an old game can be refurbished, yet still retain a nostalgic edge to please all types of players.

The gameplay is the truest reason to download this game. Even though the hour-long aspect of the game could hinder replayability, you will from time to time wish to save the fair princess from the dastardly Grand Vizier.

Survival mode is where it's at in terms of ultra-difficulty - completing all levels without a single death requires a superhuman level of dedication.

It's a beautiful remake and a testament to the longevity of smart game design; it's just not the must-buy it would be for a couple bucks less.

Prince of Persia Classic ought to serve as a template for all future XBLA remakes. It had great potential but needed a little extra refinement to broaden its appeal.
